AIR CIRCUIT BREAKERS
250, 750, 1000 VOLTS DC
General Electric

In the 1940’s, GENERAL ELECTRIC manufactured its first line of DC circuit breakers and associated switchgear. The models produced were the
  - MC-5  model with amperage ratings to 12000 amp DC
  - MC-6 model with amperage ratings to 12000 amp DC
  - MC-6A model with amperage ratings to 12000 amp DC
  - MC-6B model with amperage ratings to 12000 amp DC

Amperage ratings for the above breakers were 2000, 4000, 6000, 8000, 10000, and 12000 amps DC.

These breakers were controlled by simple electro-mechanical assemblies that afforded, pickup, delay and instantaneous settings. The breakers also had available. Reverse Current tripping features.

The closing mechanism featured a large solenoid operated assembly

The MC series of circuit breakers were available both fixed mounted and drawout. It should be noted that with the fixed model designs, the panel on which the breaker was mounted, came in a number of different dimensions.

The stationary copper for the MC series of breakers, usually folled a standard pattern with regard to size, number of bars and orientation. There were instances, however, when there were deviations from the norm.

You can contact Satin American for specifications on the General Electric copper configurations.

In the mid 1950’s, GENERAL ELECTRIC developed  a series of breakers called the AG6 / AG7. Depending on the designation, the Breakers were available as single pole breakers or MULTIPLE POLE BREAKERS. The multiple pole design afforded the user the opportunity to parallel the poles of the assemblies

The tripping system of the AG series was electromechanical and more complex than that appearing on the MC designs.

The closing mechanism featured a universal motor driven assembly.

If one finds it necessary to order replacements for the AG breakers, please note the number of poles in your request.

Post 2000, GENERAL ELECTRIC took over and began to advance a compact, HIGH SPEED DC BREAKER which was marketed under the name
GERAPID [tm].

The GERAPID series of breakers is compact in design and is controlled by an advanced tripping system.

The breaker carries ratings of 2600, 4200, 6000 and 8000 amps DC. The voltage ratings of the GERAPID breaker extend from 1000 to 3600 volts DC.

The MC and AG series of DC breakers, manufactured by GENERAL ELECTRIC, have been obsoleted.

All of the original Complete GENERAL ELECTRIC MC, AG & GERAPID Circuit Breakers are available directly from the Satin International and Satin American Corp.

Replacement Parts for the majority of GENERAL ELECTRIC circuit breakers and switchgear are in stock and available from Satin International.
