Medium Voltage Air Circuit Breakers / 2400, 4160, 7200, 13800, 15000 Volts

In the 1940’s and early ‘50s, ITE manufactured its first line of medium voltage circuit breakers and associated switchgear. The models produced were the
  - 5HV50      600 and 1200 amp, 4160 volt
  - 5HV100    600 and 1200 amp, 4160 volt
  - 5HV 150 1200 and 2000 amp, 4160 volt
  - 5HV 250 1200 and 2000 amp, 4160 volt
  - 75HV250 1200 and 2000 amp, 7200 volt
  - 75HV500 1200 and 2000 amp, 7200 volt
  - 15HV150 1200 and 2000 amp, 14400 volt
  - 15HV250 1200 and 2000 amp, 14400 volt
  - 15HV500 1200 and 2000 amp, 14400 volt

These circuit breakers were developed utilizing the horizontal design. The breakers had primary drawout clusters, while the switchgear contained bar type stationary disconnects.

In the mid 1960's ITE followed its original designs with a series of breakers called the HK series. This series was characterized by stored energy closing mechanisms, and a closed-door drawout design. The circuit breakers of this series were designated:
  - 5HK75
  - 5HK150
  - 5HK250
  - 5HK350
  - 7.2HK250
  - 7.2HK500
  - 15HK250
  - 15HK500
  - 15HK750
  - 15HK1000
  - 15HK1500

It should be noted that there were two distinct models of 15HK750 and 3 distinct models of 15HK1000. These distinct models were not interchangeable.

Once ITE was acquired by BBC, Brown Bovari Corporation and eventually ABB, Asea Brown Bovari, new lines medium voltage circuit breakers were developed but only in the VACUUM CIRCUIT BREAKER category. BBC and ABB continued to brand label the HK line under their names.

The Medium Voltage Circuit Breakers manufactured by the ITE, BBC and ABB have been obsoleted by the successive purchasing companies and are no longer actively supported by the Original Companies.
