Low Voltage Air Circuit Breakers / 208 - 600 Volt
ITE / BBC / ABB
In the 1940’s and early ‘50s, ITE manufactured its first line of low voltage circuit breakers and associated switchgear. The models produced were the
- LX model with amperage ratings to 1600 amp
- LG model with amperage ratings from 2000 to 6000amp
- - These breakers were controlled by simple oil dashpot assemblies with internal “sucker disc” delay assemblies.
In the mid 1950's ITE followed its original designs with a series of breakers called the K series. This series was available:
- First with slate backs
- Secondly with steel backs
- Finally with steel backs with movable escutcheon plates.
These breakers were controlled originally with “sucker disk assemblies and followed by more complex tripping mechanisms with longer time delays.
- KA, KA-H with amperage ratings to 225 amp
- KB, KB-E with amperage ratings to 600 amp
- KC, KC-B, KC-C, KC-G with ratings to 1600 amp
- KD, KD-A with ratings to 3000amp
- KE, KE-A with ratings to 4000amp
In the 1960’s into the 1970, ITE developed the K-Line series this series was protected by designs of evermore-accurate dashpot assemblies and finally the first ITE solid-state trip device assembly, the POWER SHIELD.
- K225 with amperage ratings to 225 amp
- K600 with amperage ratings to 600 amp
- K800 with amperage ratings to 800 amp
- K1600 with ratings to 1600 amp
- K2000 with ratings to 2000 amp
- K3000 with ratings to 3000amp
- K4000 with ratings to 4000amp
The above K-Line breakers when fitted with solid state trip devices carried a letter ‘s’ after the Type Designation
K225S, K600S. K800S, K1600S, K2000S, K3000S, K4000S
The above K-Line breakers were also available with integral 3 phase fuses for increased interrupting capacity to 200,000amp. When the breakers were supplied with integral fuses, the designations were as follows:
KDON600, KDON600S, KDON800, KDON800S, KDON1600, KDON1600S
Once ITE was acquired by BBC, Brown Bovari Corporation and eventually ABB, Asea Brown Bovari, new lines of low voltage circuit breakers were developed. Initially the LK series was produced. This series was followed by MB series.
The designations in each series is as follows:
MB-8-800, MB-16-1600
Most of the Low Voltage Circuit Breakers manufactured by the ITE Company have been obsoleted by the successive purchasing companies and are no longer actively supported by the Original Companies.
The original Complete Circuit Breakers are available directly from the Satin International and Satin American Corp.
